For Joseph Kusnick, building is a creative field – one in which he is a collaborator. He is in close personal contact with architecture through his intimate working relationship with architects. Architects grant him this privilege because they recognize him as one of them, as a collaborator who understands the importance of seeing their vision brought into being, and who values the importance of precisely translating their intent.

He continues to draw constantly from his background as an architect while building. This is something that conventional builders are not trained to do. But on a deeper level, he uses his experience as an architect each time he reviews a set of plans, allowing him to quickly understand the unique set of decisions that must be made in thoughtful sequence to progress to an aesthetically satisfying and cost-effective result.

At AE Greyson, we seek to engage the creative process throughout every stage of the project, partnering with architects and designers in ways that make for a better experience and better results.

As someone who worked as an architect for many years at firms including Andreé Putman, Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates, and Ulrich Franzen Associates, Joe finds himself uniquely positioned to understand the most sophisticated projects from an architectural point of view.

At AE Greyson, we see architects and interior designers as the directors in the movie business. and ourselves in the role of editors – the ones who actually construct the films people experience and enjoy. We’re the hands of the architect. Architecture is a collaborative process like moviemaking. Outside of the industry, the role of the editor is not well understood. But within the industry, everybody understands the editor as the person who takes what was written and what was shot and turns them into something that a human being can use.

The best builders are those who bring something to the process, who understand their role as something creative and professional and not a simple trade. These are people who offer ideas and solutions, who enhance and support the designer’s vision and make it into something concrete. Joseph Kusnick and the AE Greyson team have spent the last 30 years honing their roles as collaborators in the building process, and through this refined sense of cooperation seek to provide a full spectrum of construction management services at the highest level.

Directors have favorite editors because editors are the ones who build the films, and it’s the finished film that brings a director financial reward, critical success, and public acclaim. At AE Greyson, this is what we do for architects. (changed out for last sentence)
